The Happiness Project

Rubin makes eleven different happiness resolutions, planning to follow a new one each month of the year, and ending with trying all of them at once for the last month. I ended up starting this one, just getting about 20 pages in, and realizing that I didn’t really want to read it. It wasn’t that I’m not interested in the topic — I took a positive psychology class as an undergrad and looked into some of the same research the author did as a grad student. I think part of it was the writing style — the author blogged as well, and I think a lot of that writing style carried over into the book. Also, like I mentioned — I’ve already had a class in positive psychology, so a lot of the ideas and concepts in the book didn’t feel new to me. It’s something I might pick up again at a later point, but right now I just wasn’t interested.
